| Eastern Cemetery, Lelant: gravestone inscriptions 1877 | ||||||||
| M Adams 2004-2022 | ||||||||
| Version 2022 | ||||||||
| This data is taken from gravestones in a public burial ground but please remember that many of these/span> | ||||||||
| people are lively in the memories of the living and therefore handle the information with sensitivity. I have | ||||||||
| omitted from this public record the names of relations noted on the gravestones but likely to be living. Some | ||||||||
| of these are memorials to people buried elsewhere. | ||||||||
| This cemetery is much overgrown with some graves subsiding and some inscriptions unreachable and weathering | ||||||||
| into unreadability. In some instances not everyone interred in a grave is recordable. Transcribing has been difficult. | ||||||||
| Several graves in the Western and Eastern cemeteries refer to people, often children, "buried in the old churchyard." | ||||||||
| I have marked them here with a hash # against the forename. Each has only one identical PIN for both burial ground entries. | ||||||||

| NOTES and additional information on individuals | ||||||||
| This is the Anglican cemetery across the beach path from St Uny's church. | ||||||||
| Abbreviations: d daughter, f father, gd granddaughter, gf grandfather, gm grandmother, | ||||||||
| gp grandparents, gs grandson, h husband, m mother, s son, w wife, f 234 father of 234 etc. | ||||||||
| Brother and sister are not abbreviated. I have recorded only relationships explicitly referred to in the grave inscriptions. | ||||||||
| This means some husbands and wives are not recorded as such if the relationship is not on the gravestone even | ||||||||
| though children are referred to as, for example, "their daughter" or "their son." | ||||||||
| Died is written out in full in the Notes and not abbreviated. | ||||||||
| + This against a forename means there is additonal information from the gravestone put below. | ||||||||
| The PIN is a distinguishing number (personal identification number) given to each individual. The | ||||||||
| grave number helps to link people, especially where surnames are different and the gravestone inscription | ||||||||
| gives no linking information. The grave number does not locate the grave in the graveyard. | ||||||||
| Age: at death as recorded on the gravestone. | ||||||||
| n: a relational name on the gravestone but not buried there. I have suppressed this information for burials after 1950. | ||||||||
| Place names are in capitals, house names in small letters. | ||||||||
| Additional comments | ||||||||
| (MORLEY ?) Agatha Anne 1889 | ||||||||
| No surname is given | ||||||||
| Agnes 1645 | ||||||||
| All that I can read is the forename Agnes and the age 94. The grave is amid those dated in the mid-1940s. | ||||||||
| BARNES Amy 1789 | ||||||||
| The gravestone says "niece of the above": presumably niece of the Uren parents 1787 and 1788 not of the | ||||||||
| daughter Sarah Jane 1786 | ||||||||
| BASTION Thomas 1911 | ||||||||
| The gravestone says "Late of Australia," died at Sorrento, CARBIS BAY | ||||||||
