| Lelant ratepayers 1722 | ||||
| © Maxwell Adams 2005 | ||||
| Version: 15 December 2005 | ||||
| This list is from the "Church Council Book 1711," the churchwardens' | ||||
| accounts CRO DDP 120/5/1. Although the date 1711 appears on page 1, the first dated | ||||
| rates are for 1722. The rates were collected "for repairing the church and other nessesaries [sic] | ||||
| of the same." The spelling is often eccentric. The edges of the pages are damaged and lost. | ||||
| First two pages of the book | ||||
| At the front of the book these names are written; presumably they are churchwardens at | ||||
| various times. They are largely undated or the date has been lost off the edge of the page | ||||
| but I have put the date where it remains. | ||||
| CARNE | Thomas | |||
| EDWARDS | Thomas | |||
| HOSKING | Andrew | |||
| HOSKING | Henry | |||
| HOSKING | Thomas | |||

| SANDOW | Thomas | |||
| THOMAS | Thomas | |||
| "Thomas Edward and Thomas Courgenue Church Wardens for the year of 1762" [Edward, sic] | ||||
| "John Edwards his hand and pen writen in November the 6 1763" [writen, sic] | ||||
| "Thomas Edwards 1763" | ||||
| "John Edwards his hand and pen writen March the 16 1765" | ||||
| 1722 ratepayers | ||||
| I have entered separately people who are linked together in the list and put a linking number against | ||||
| their name. Thus BANDFILL Edward 3 means that the entry in the book is Edward and John Bandfill. | ||||
| I have entered all the names as often as they appear in the list because I cannot distinguish whether | ||||
| repeated names are for the different individuals or whether they indicate individuals holding more | ||||
| than one ratable asset. | ||||
| The churchwardens are named as - Stevens and Henry Hosking. Part of the first forename is on | ||||
| a lost piece of the page. It appears to end in the letter r so might be Christopher. | ||||
| ... indicates a word or part of a word that I cannot read or that is lost. | ||||
