In his will Velour left money to people and religious agencies in Lelant, as well as several other people in other places. Only the Lelant references are put here.

            In the name of God, Amen,

On the sixth day of the month of October in the 1435th year of our Lord,

            I, William Velour, make my testament in this manner...

Item I leave to a chaplain celebrating mass for my soul in the church of St Ewinus near Lelant in Cornwall, for a trental of St Gregory, 9 marks.

Item I leave to the vicar of St Ewinus, for the making good of my tithes, 13s 4d…

 

Item ordino et volo quod si aliquis vel aliqua de quatuor filiis meis infra annum discrecionis sive ante pub’tatem decesserit quod sua portio de bonis meis ipsum vel ipsam contingens inter fratres superstites et sororem si supervixerit equaliter dividetur

Et residuum omnium bonorum meorum do et lego ad distribuendum inter uxorem meam et pueros meos

 

Item I ordain and will that if any of my four children should die below the age of discretion, or before manhood, that the portion of my goods concerning him or her should be equally divided between the brothers surviving, and their sister if she should survive.

And the residue of all my goods I give and leave to be distributed between my wife and my children.

Item I ordain and constitute Henry Rawe, Isabel my wife, and John my first-born son, my executors.

Et commissa est bonorum administracio Henrico Rawe et Johanni filio executoribus in eodem testamento nominatis et in forma iuris iuratis

 

The above-written testament was proved before Master John Lyndefeld, commissary etc, on the 10th day of the month of May in the 1436th year of our Lord, and administration of the goods was committed to Henry Rawe and John the son, the executors named in the same testament, they having been sworn in form of law.

 

xjo die Maii emanavit commissio dominis Johanni Cloke et Jacobo Rafhorne vicariis perpetuis ecclesiarum parochialium de Lananta et Sancti Hillarii Exoniensis diocese ad committendum administracionem Isabelle relicte defuncti et ad certificandum citra xiij diem Julii proxime extunc futuro quo die nichil fuerat edificatum

 

On the 11th day of May issued forth a commission to Sir John Cloke and Sir James Rafhorne, perpetual vicars of the parish churches of Lelant and Saint Hilary, in the Diocese of Exeter, to commit administration to Isabel, the relict of the deceased, and to certify before the 13th day of July then next in the future; on which day nothing had been established.
